Job Summary

ATMOTERRA is actively seeking a highly motivated Environmental Engineering Intern for employment in Nantes. ATMOTERRA is searching for candidates that have the ability to be a role model, be client-focused, be impactful and be decisive.

Main topic

The main focus of the internship will be to work on several Strategic Environmental Assessments. These assessments are in particular required by the French regulation as part of the development and the implementation of strategic plans for various territories (Article L.122-4 to 5 and R.122-17 of the Environmental Code). Strategic Environmental Assessment are in particular carried out during the development and implementation of Territorial Climate Air Energy Plans (PCAET), ensuring that climate, air quality and energy strategies are developed in line with a high level of environmental protection and, if possible, an improvement of the state of the environment on the territory.

PCAET are highly strategic as they define the Energy strategy of the territory for the next decades (leading the change to renewable energies), ensuring that the territory is also adapted to climate change, liveable and attractive (air quality and environment).

Working on such assignment will give the appropriate candidate the opportunity to rapidly develop skills and knowledge on various topics linked to Environmental Assessment over a territory (fauna, flora, protected species, hydrogeology, surface water, air quality, …). Once the baseline assessment is carried out, the candidate would be involved in the development of strategies and actions to enhance renewable energies, improve air quality and adapt to climate change, being the environmental safeguard specialist in that approach. Air quality will have a particular focus in these plans.
